Content fueled by friendship. Not money.

The Late Night Legends Podcast is a podcast is a program that’s run by friends as a hobby. We’re not famous, and we’re not doing the project to become famous. What we’d like to do is to touch on paranormal topics, with the intention of introducing our audience to a conceptual understanding while providing entertainment and some comedy where possible.
We do not claim to be experts, nor do we have an educational forward show.
We like to think of ourselves as the everyday person who loves spooky stuff. In many cases we (as hosts) learn alongside our audience, making for a fun non-judgmental environment. If you’ve ever had a friend, coworker, or neighbor you could talk to about ghost, monsters, or conspiracies with- we think you’d love our content.
It’s important to note though however, that our show is not meant for children, and should not be listened to by anyone under the age of 18. We sometimes discuss sexual topics and topics that may be difficult for sensitive listeners. We encourage any listener before turning on our show to exercise discretion and be aware of their surroundings. We discourage anyone who may be triggered by paranormal trauma from listening to our show. Also, it’s important to note that nothing said by anyone on the show is an indicator of how they personally feel themselves, nor is an indicator of how the rest of the shows hosts, guests, or staff feel.
With all that being said, we like to think we’ve got a great show that we think you’ll enjoy. Feel free to give us a listen, and text or call us anytime to share your thoughts on whatever it may be that we’re discussing. Also, if you really like what you hear and want to join our community, we’ve got a Discord where you’re going to be able to find all of our hosts, staff, and regular guests.

So what’s this Superballs thing?

It’s not easy to explain without giving you…

a history

In the spring of 2009 three friends worked together at your favorite neighborhood Chipotle. That is to say, back when Chipotle was really, really great. All three lived in the same apartment building not too far away, and would become best friends and hang out before and after work. These three friends were Frank, Jon, and Kayti. Frank during that time, was approached to become a producer of a non-related podcast but had to decline because he didn’t have experience doing so. So one day in April the three friends decided to order some delivery pizza and hang out. Frank brought over his MacBook Pro and suggested to Jon and Kayti they ‘try out’ podcasting by recording an episode. Frank just wanted to learn the process of production and publishing. They drank, ate, and with the help of Kayti’s cat Huey Lewis made the first episode of what would turn into the Superballs Podcast.

A year later, in the summer of
2010, the three decided to listen to the show they had made the spring prior. The situation was similar. Although, they were ordering gyros for delivery, and not pizza. While listening, they together decided they could totally do a podcast. The plan was to invite friends an co-workers, their boss Dave and maybe have some cool segments like “Sports with Felix.” From that time, until 2013, they did a non-live show and published out to iTunes. What seemed like many shows with many guests, turned out to be honestly not that many in the big picture. However it was incredibly special, genuine, wonderful content.

Unfortunately, life just happened. After graduating from school, Kayti left the show large in part due to desire to be professional in her career. Not wanting to have anyone accidentally stumble across the podcast affecting her adult job. While Jon and Frank did the show together as a duo for a bit, ultimately Jon would make the decision to move back to his hometown. Podcasting back then wasn’t as easy as it was today. We’re blessed to live in an era of technology where it’s easy to have remote meetings and gatherings. Back then, the complicated logistics of trying to podcast together proved too much of a challenge. So in
2013, the project was shelved. (It’s actually a bit more complicated than that, but for the sake of simplicity, we’ll just leave it at that.)

In
2019, Frank had a comedian coworker- Jeff. Jeff was interested in the project and wanted to grow his brand while having some fun doing so. One day after work he invited Frank to a dinner where he’d ask Frank to restart the project and rekindle some of the magic that the show had back in 2013. Frank agreed, and in September of 2019, they restarted Superballs. For a time, they podcasted from their shared office in the Chicago loop, and had friends and coworkers as guests. It was amazing, and fun, and unfortunately also short lived.

In the spring of
2020, the unthinkable happened. That nasty Covid-19 business. Jeff and Frank during this time stopped working together due to creative differences. Jeff also decided to start a new chapter in his life and move away. The show took a short break but it wasn’t gone forever. Frank decided to call his best friend from college Nick and asked him to be part of the show. Together, they decided to hire new co-hosts and work with them on a professional level, rather than exclusively friends.

In the fall 2020 they set out to interview a new crew for the Superballs Podcast and hired Ally, and a girl named Amanda (AliceVersaEmerge). They had a ton of fun doing the show and it was really great for what it was. Eventually, the podcast would see the departure of Amanda, and Nick, Frank and Ally knew they’d need to hire a few extra hosts.
In the spring of
2021 after doing extensive interviews they hired Wasi and Leah who joined the show. There was also a lot of talk about changing the direction as everyone had this interest in the paranormal.

In the summer of 2021 the team decided to do a spin off podcast and they called it the
Late Night Legends. Inspired by shows like “Coast to Coast AM” and people like Art Bell and George Noory the team had a new amazing direction. Soon after, they felt the need to hire someone as a field correspondent, someone who would really get out and talk to the people. In The summer of 2021 they hired Mic. Shortly thereafter, Ally left the show, and Mic was promoted to full time host. It was a much better fit, and there was no need for a field correspondent as covid restrictions were still in force.

The team carried on for the better part of 2 years and in
2022, we had some significant staffing changes. In the summer, we hired the wonderful Kara, Jeni, and Shaina. Kara, and Jeni as hosts, and Shaina as our Mythos Keeper. In the winter of 2022 Leah was asked to leave the show, Mic decided to depart due to creative differences, and Nick and Wasi stepped down as hosts, but still are a part of the project.

In August 2023, Kara, Jeni, and Tressa went on to start their own Podcast called “Into the Obscure.” Feel free to check them out. Click here to visit the Into the Obscure Podcast

It’s also important to note, that L0RDCRONUS who’s a longtime friend of the podcast decided to work with Frank and their friend Loryssa to still make episodes of the Superballs Podcast. Which are happening once per month on the last Thursday of each month. They decided to also hire Jackie as their 4th host, who was one of the OG’s that podcasted with Frank originally from 2010-2013.

If you’re still reading this, thanks for making it this far. Right now we’re in the late winter of
2023, and we’ve just hired James & Ashley!

TL;DR
Late Night Legends is a spinoff of The Superballs Podcast.
